What does 25 g of protein really cost?
“40% off” and “bonus size” make tubs hard to compare. The fair number is the price of the protein itself. Copy three numbers from each label and the cheapest one lights up.
The numbers are on the back of the tub: “servings per container” and “protein” per serving. A bigger % off can still lose — the cheapest protein is the lowest price per 25 g, and for whole foods the same math works (a dozen eggs ≈ 75 g of protein).
How the math works
Price ÷ (servings per container × grams of protein per serving) × 25. It counts only protein, so a cheap tub with small, low-protein scoops doesn't look like a bargain.
The same math works for food: a dozen large eggs has about 75 g of protein; a 32 oz tub of plain Greek yogurt about 90 g. Our kitchen has recipes built on them.
Black Friday tip: check the price per 25 g before and during the sale — a real deal lowers it. Our Black Friday page lists where the supplement deals are.
